Hoping I can find a place to press on the wheel bearings tomorrow morning, then prep the driveshaft and the rear itself for install.
Sunday it should be spinning the tires on its own. But not until the afternoon.

Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned ahead of you. What ratio was that gearset again...355?

4.11

Gonna need a taller tire at sea level to avoid the rev limiter crossing the traps.

Man that car is gonna hook. You won't have any problems with it now, as it is almost foolproof. Just heat those slicks up for 5 sec. and they'll be stickier then syrup.

I expect to see your 60' time drop into the 1.7 sec. range. Gonna be hard to deal with the swaying of the car down the track though, as I believe those tires don't have a sidewall.

Keep us posted on the track results.

I am hoping to run her Wednesday.
But I have a lot of work ahead of me before that comes.

Does the new rearend require some bit of breakin process?

Did you blow the rear end already or are you just upgrading?

I foresee a blazing fast mid 15 second 1/4 mile run by Lous in the near future.

My guess is Hyde will still be the fastest. IIRC, JekylandHyde was just waiting for some downtime to get the new clutch installed, but once the car gets tuned again, it should put down 600+ rwhp, which is probably going to get him mid 10s. Mr. Lous is at a really high elevation which will hurt his ETs, but I have a feeling he"ll put down a 10 sec pass with some calculations :grinno: IIRC all that slowprocess added to the truck was a 100 shot, and he was at high 11s before, which I"m guessing will get him down to low 11s.

Power is there for 10's at sea level.
Probably won't ever see it. I refuse to put a cage/bar in this car.

Not a race car, I just enjoy having fun at the track.

I wanted to go ahead and upgrade the rearend before blowing up the stocker. Mostly because I am a cheapass. The stocker will sell.

Well, I got a full out race car, so not really a fair comparo on my part. The way it was, I would have been low 10s.

Once I get my new chassis and front/rear suspension though, I'm looking to be 6.30 or better in the 1/8th, which will get me high 9s in the 1/4.

And Mr. Lous, good luck with it. I'll tell ya though, you're in for a big job. Its not very easy to roll a rear end under a car, lol. Might be a little better since you didnt have the new one cut down any and stayed with the stock width (not to mention you have a stock rear frame section, lol), but either way, its a pain to do that!

Thanks!!!

So far so good. Rear end is ready to get put back in. Axles, diff, etc. are all in the housing and working.
Needs filled and connected.
Hoping to have video tomorrow afternoon of it spinning the tires.....on jackstands.

Almost there.

Did drive it.
E-brake doesn't work...but I know why.
Sway bar needs clamped up, but I didn't have the large clamps, I will pick them up tomorrow on my way home from work.
LCA relocation brackets need welded in. Sometime this week I hope.

Driving it was weird. You could feel the LCA's were REALLY mushy. Rear suspension was horrible.
Just a little whine from the rear, expected with the larger stronger gears and the TrueTrac diff.
Since the speedo isn't adjusted yet, it is kinda fun to watch it climb VERY quickly.

Spinning the tires is easy. I want to see some serious 60' times.

If I can cut a 1.7 I will be more than happy.

LCA brackets are getting welded into place tomorrow afternoon, and I hope while I am there we can adjust my pinion angle properly as well.

You'll get a 1.7 sec. or better 60'. I can guarantee it. I think you shift rather well, it was just your take off that was suffering.

Good luck, I can't wait to see your new times.

awesome luos. cant wait to see what you can do with it. i like how much bigger the 9" is than the 10 bolt. its kinda funny really. just think, your old rearend was the same size as mine...

when's the first test and tune session?

Mr. Luos
08-01-2006, 10:16 PM
It was going to be tomorrow night, but something came up today and I wasn't able to get the brackets welded.

Probably gonna be a couple weeks. I want to double check my tune because I added .025" to each pushrod. Just longer ones of course. But it seems to be having a problem finding idle so I bet my A/F is off throughout the powerband.
Hoping to dyno tune again this weekend. But I won't know until Thursday afternoon if that is happening or not.
I will keep everyone up to date.
