If you have to ask if the STI is worth it, you obviously don't understand.
I don't have the details you're asking for on this computer but I know where to get them, I will look them up and post back here.

it's something like a vf34 or vf39 turbo (if that means anything to you), and somethine like 16 - 17 psi. this is all off the top of my head, i may be slightly off.
Buuut freakray is right, if you have to ask....well...you can fill in the rest. Besides all that, with keeping only hp in mind, all the other 300hp cars out there that are actual sports cars (not a 300hp truck or suv) all cost in the same ball park. Sure you can build a car with more hp, or faster acceleration, but fuck off, that's not what it's always about. I know it feels better to do your own stuff, build it yourself, blah blah, but not everyone can do that and make it last 100k+ miles (very quick miles at that).

Maximum stock boost on the STI is 14.5psi. (Not off the top of my head - from the service manual).
The stock STI turbo is an IHI vf39.

I also feel obligated to add (to this very old conversation) that boost does not equal power. Boost is only a useful number when related to compression ratio and displacement. Yes, on a given engine more boost usually equals more power, but 5psi on a Mazda Protege is much more than 9psi on a WRX. It's all about volume of air/fuel combusted over time with efficiency.

And need we mention that the STI handles like a dream. Because after all, whats 300hp, if all it can do is a straight line (this coming from a guy that loves building up the old muscle car hot rods... shame on me)

Actually, to handle like a dream, the STI likes a few after market mods :)
