I just bought a 98 corvette and the oil pressure gauge is pegged to the max even when the engine isn't running. Is this a sensor issue or could it be something else?

I just bought a 98 corvette and the oil pressure gauge is pegged to the max even when the engine isn't running. Is this a sensor issue or could it be something else?I'd vote a sensor problem. Pull the wire off the sensor and see what happens then ground the wire.
