Its 9:00pm on a Saturday night, I’m in the mood for racing like usual, so I go through the middle of town sounding off the new HKS SSQ BOV that I just installed, and flicking through 1 and 2nd redlining looking to get attention. Quite happy with the rolling starts and launches that I am able to achieve with my recently reconditioned Twin plate and aluminium flywheel combination I’m quite confident that I’m able to take anything that New Plymouth has to throw at me tonight. Even if I’m only boosting 15.5 psi on pump gas.

I hear a high pitched sound coming from behind not knowing quite what to make of it my first impression was that off a Japanese sports bike, as I see two head lights quickly approaching from behind it quickly becomes apparent to me that it’s a car but which one, obviously a Ferrari I think to myself, I shift to first and wait in anticipation for the lights to turn green. We are on a one way street leading through the middle of town the lights finally change and I punch the pedal and power slide over to the right lane I hit ignition cut then shift to second I’m at 4000rpm he pulls up next to me, I glance over to my surprise and see a Red honda NSX old school deep dish mags and very low, I wait for him to punch it he shifts almost immediately I follow keeping up with his bumper my head stuck to the seat of my car I shift to 3rd at almost 8000rpm where I hit egnition cut again, he’s crawled almost a car ahead of me and we are going around 150kph through the middle of town I’m hitting egnition cut when we slow down before the next set of lights.

A guy in his 40’s winds down his windows, smiles and says nice car, think you can keep up. I give him the thumbs up. Eager to bet him I notice people at the nearby alfresco restaurant watching in anticipation I give my car a good rev and let my BOV sound he does like wise (no BOV). This time I think I’m gonna take him from the launch. The lights once again turn green I launch at 7000rpm wanting to give it all my wheels spin loos a second before we launch I jump ahead he’s at my door I quickly power shift into second keeping the rpm’s as high as possible then all goes dead my car shuts down completely, I struggle to take stare of the car going 80kph I desperately try to start her while keeping eye on the road and watching his car speed off into the distance, on the third go she starts I turn down a nearby intersection, fuck I blew my chance in beating the NSX but my worries soon turned to my car, looking for any sign of engine damage I look at the temp which is alright and then take a look at the exhaust temp guage which is running a little high but nothing to be concerned about given the time I’d spent racing that night. My car is running real rough but I keep her on to save the Turbo’s.

Lucky enough to make it home I do more inspection around the car the next day where I find the wire to my engine management system in the glove compartment (HKS Fcon) was partially unplugged I reconnect it and every thing ran fine to my relief.

You can view the Wire to the ECU here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=303720&page=16

note that my car has had more done to it since these pics. Pics will be updated soon.

Good story. You've succeeded in making another NSX driver that much more cocky :grinno:
