M A F mass air flow sensor ?tillerjoe 07-24-2006, 01:54 AM Where is the MAF mass air flow sensor located and how do you clean it:nono: ? jeff84red 07-24-2006, 11:04 AM What year, engine size? Normally they are located between the airfilterbox and throttle body. My 1994 4.0 has it down near the airbox. Diconnect the senor connector carefully, remove the 2 compression clamps and remove the MAF. Look on the screeen side to the small orifice. Use a quality cleaner for carb/TB's and spray inside this orifice. That should do it for you. Be carefull not to crack the plastic intake tube as it will cause other issues. tillerjoe 07-25-2006, 01:11 AM YEAR is 99 engine size is 4.0 am I correct here on this causing a high pitched whistle at idle, or should i be focusing my thoughts elsewhere ? when the engine is reved up the whistle stops. Dr98 07-25-2006, 01:58 PM It is probably your IAC valve making that noise. It controls your engine idle speed. Dean tillerjoe 07-26-2006, 01:18 AM It is probably your IAC valve making that noise. It controls your engine idle speed. DeanOK. Is there a way to service the IAC valve ? such as cleaning it ? and where is it located ? thx people ! keep the suggestions comming. this whistle is driving me looney ! way2old 07-26-2006, 07:43 AM The IAC is located on the throttle body, It is a round silvery looking culinder about 4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. There is a hose going to it and one electrical connection. It is held in place by 2 small bolts. Easily cleaned. Just remove and use a cleaner that will not deteroriate the rubber parte inside. tillerjoe 07-29-2006, 09:33 PM Thanks, that was it, cleaned it no more whistle. Hats off to ya way2old 07-30-2006, 04:50 PM Way to go Dean. Good call. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
