Rear wheel hubs in 94 Cavalier?cujotom 07-20-2006, 07:03 PM What are some of the signs of bad rear wheel hubs (Bearings)? When I am looking at the rear of the car the drivers side rear tire looks like it is leaning inward from the top. (Negative Camber). It actually looks like both the tires have this condition but the Drivers side is the worst. When spin the rear drum it seems to spin free, No noise, no bend, no binding, etc. There is no adjustment for rear camber on this car. When you pull in and out on the tire there is no up or down or in or out motion. It all seems solid. Could this be rear wheel hubs that are somehow bent slightly? The only other thing that I can think of is this car is a Northeastern car, (Bad winters) So it goes to say that this car has its share of underbody rust. I guess its also possible that the rear axle is somehow twisted. The funny thing is the car seems to track the road fine. I have tried a diffrent rim and tire on the one side and its no change. When I jack it up from the side of the rear axle it stays the same when its on the ground or in the air (Load VS No load) which seems to tell me that its not spring or shock related. ( I replaced all those parts within the past 2 years). Can anyone give me an idea If my thinking is on track. The cost of raer hubs here are about $110 each... Unfortunately Last week I just replcred the gas tank on this which was $125. Its getting so where I am throwing my money away. I just love this car though, Its hard to part with. Anybody have any ideas? Thank You Tom :banghead: Young Chuck D 07-21-2006, 02:13 PM doesn't seem like theres a problem here.... ain't broke don't fix it cujotom 07-21-2006, 02:37 PM Yea D Trust me If I had a $1 for how many times somebody told me that same exact thing " If Aint broke Dont Fix It" But I never listen, As I always find something that I can mess with on my car. You should see the Fuel injector pulse width issue I am having! Lol.... But seriously though, something is just not right with the negative camber. I think that maybe the rear back plates are bent. I am going to replace rear drums and shoes as Thats the one thing that I have never bothered with, Even though the edges of my drums are crumbling into pieces and they are just about seized on the axle. Nothing a torch wont fix! Lol Thanks D Maybe someday I will take your advice :shakehead But I doubt It. Lol... This is me on the real:banghead: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
