backfiring at 100 km/hdbfordtech 07-20-2006, 05:29 PM I've got a 2000 grand cherokee with a 4.7 liter engine. when you go wide open throttle around the 100 km/h mark, the vehicle will backfire and miss fairly consistantly. At any other speeds, there is no backfiring at all, the vehicle runs smoothly. Fuel pressure is good and consistant when this all happens. Tried a different tps, no change. Spark plugs are new and no signs of carbon tracking was seen on any of the old ones. the vehicle is acting like it is lacking fuel, however the adaptives and o2 sensors are good. Cam and crank signals appear in sync. The problem is odd, because it only happens around the 100 km/h mark +. Has anyone seen this problem and/or could make a suggestion. Thanks Purple_Haze 07-22-2006, 05:09 PM i would suggest timing. Check that first. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
