Cavalier 60 ft time

I got to the track for the first time with my new tires BFG Drag radials. It wasn't the best conditions for racing. Hot and very humid. But I just wanted to work on launching with the new tires. I only got four runs. Even my first time out I already bested my old 60ft. I can't wait to get used to them I think I could cut consistent 2.0's
Old best 60ft time: 2.186
New best: 2.11
Does anyone else on here use these tires? So far I love them. I had them at 25lbs, I think I could go a little lower yet.
What about all you FWD cars out there? what kind of times 60ftwise are others getting? I didn't really get a chance to mingle with all the racers out the track cuz I had to spend time with the GF and little brother.
PS: I race at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in PA.

Never tryed the BFG DR's.
I have some 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET streets coming (DR's).
Ran on Nitto DR's and was disappointed. I had better short times on street tires with less power.

Nittos suck ass. The BFG's are where it'a at. I have nothing but positive things to say about the BFG's.
Author you should lower your tire pressure to 20psi, and work your way down from there.

Nitto DR's are great for higher horsepower cars....for street use. They last longer than any other drag radial and hook better than any street tire...on the street.

I don't agree with you at all. The nittos gripped as well as street tires for me without any heatup. When I heated them up they still left alot to be desired.
M/T DR's are arguably better at the strip, but you're a fool if you think that they won't break your pussy 10 bolt rearend. Those tires hook as well as slicks.

On the street....My Nittos grab 2nd gear no problem, just a bark. If I run regular street tires, I hit second and spin through it.
At the track....My Nittos weren't any better than most street tires.
That is what I was trying to say there. I must have mis-worded it.
I have a set of M/T 275/50/15's coming next week. :grinyes:

Oh sweet. I didn't know you purchased a 12 bolt/9" rearend. What gearing did you order with it?
With the M/T DR's very little heat up is required. I'm sure you'll run atleast 3-4 tenths of a sec. faster at the track with them. If you do have the 12 bolt/9" and 3.90+ gearing i'd say a full sec., especially with a nice 5-6K rpm launch.

You should have no problem getting in the 11's. Just heat those M/T's up, bring the car up to 5K rpms, and let it rip. I'm sure you'll pull up a little tire in the process.

Why dont you just quit screwing around and buy some slicks?? You got a rear end now that can stand it, so just get it over with and buy some real slicks and quit fooling with those drag radials.
You won't have any traction problems with a set of slicks.

I had a set of Mickey Thompson DR's in the garage when I made those passes.
Just didn't have the right lugs/studs to run them.

You know I'm really thinking about buying M/T's for my car when I get all of my work done.
I've always liked the Good Year Eagle Dragway Specials, but I dont know if this last set is doing so hot. They hooked good when they were new, but they're about wore out now. They got all of last year and what little I got to run this year on them, and that's it.
