I was wondering what type of tranny fluid my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee takes. I've lost my owner's manual and can't seem to find one online. That's free anyway. Please help.

I go to the dealer and buy genuine mopar trans fluid and get a bottle of "prolong" additive from NAPA. You might want to click on my user name and look at my previous tranny postings. I have considerable experience with 95 transmissions and what problems they have. Chad

I read somewhere that Prolong is a complete fraud and you should never put that stuff in any of your auto's fluids.

I don't know...I had a tranny builder recommend it to me years ago and I have brought back TH350, TH400 and my Jeep trans back from certain death several times using it. The Jeep trans has 302k miles and has never been rebuilt. I changed the govenor transducer and pressure sensor once and that is the only work ever done other than fresh mopar fluid, prolong, filters and gaskets. That's just my experience......maybe I'm just lucky. Chad

Your Jeep originally used ATF+3. A few years ago Chrysler recommended using a newly developed synthetic lube, ATF+4, for all Grands 1994 and up. ATF+4 is backward compatible with ATF+3 and ATF+2.
So ATF+4 it is.
