Hi everybody

I have a 2001 Malibu V6 and I want to install OEM cruise control by swapping the steering wheel.

What other parts should I look for in the junkyard? and what is the installation procedure?

Should I change the ECM or BCM?

I saw an old topic in another forum about a drive-by-wire system which makes installing the cruise control easier, does the Malibu have this system?

Any help about would be greatly appreciated, since I am not an expert in these issues and I will let a specialist do it.

Thanks

I can't answer all your questions but the 2001 Malibu used a stand-alone electronic module for cruise control. The PCM (ECM) has some control over the module. I don't think the BCM was involved at all with the function.

The vehicle is not throttle-by-wire. That didn't happen until 2004 Malibu new body style.

I don't have any practical experience with trying to add to a vehicle without option, sorry.
