The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred about 165 miles (265 km) northeast of Gisborne, New Zealand at 12:52 AM MDT today, Aug 21, 2001 (6:52 PM local time in New Zealand). A PRELIMINARY MAGNITUDE OF 6.9 WAS COMPUTED FOR THIS EARTHQUAKE. The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage.

He'll be okay.......I survived the Northridge(CA) one in '94....I was only 5 miles away from the epicenter.....and I don't think that New Zealand is a third world nation....it will take a while to get back up and running......maybe two days.......

The freaky thing about my experience was that the night before I was on one of the Northridge Mall parking structures......we had parked on the top floor.....n-e-ways the structure collapsed during the earthquake and I think it was the only one out of the 5 that did.....

He should ok, Im here in New Zealand and havent heard a thing about damage to any thing.

Never felt a thing here...i'm about 300km from Gisborne where it was meant to be.

We get a few quakes here and a 5-6 doesn't do much damage as we have tough laws on building codes.

But i'm fine and still posting away.......it will take more than a earthquake to stop me !!!!!

Just read the report now about the quake.......there was only very very minior damage

Yeah I was 3 miles from the epicenter....that was a crazy day...a house down my street burned down!:eek: Anyways glad to hear u werent affected Primera Man.......
