frankenstein the beast?snoopyloopysk8a 07-17-2006, 10:15 PM can a neon head bolt on to a stratus four with no mods? Will183 07-20-2006, 01:48 AM can a neon head bolt on to a stratus four with no mods? It depends on if the two motors are the same. Example, the 2.0 on similar years will bolt up fine. However, you will want to consult your local dealer or junk yard as they usually have reference manuals that say exactly what parts will fit on which cars. snoopyloopysk8a 07-25-2006, 12:28 AM It depends on if the two motors are the same. If the Stratus is a 2.4 Dohc then you will have to put 2.4l cams into the Dohc Neon head before you install it. The cam position marker on the cam is located at a different angle in the 2.4 vs the 2.0. You have to make that correction before the engine will run. snoopyloopysk8a 08-10-2006, 03:43 PM so is there a dohc head for the 2.0 that will bolt on? neon_rt 08-10-2006, 04:23 PM Yes, you can bolt the 2.0 Dohc head on in place of the Sohc head, but it isn't that simple. You would need the intake and exhaust manifold also, plus you would have to check valve to piston clearance (since the valves are in a slightly different place. Your compression would reduce from 9.8 to 9.2 so you would loose Torque. The Fuel/Spark map would now be incorrect for the engine and it would not run very well. You would probably get a check engine light. Some have said that they have gotten a DOHC computer from a Neon to work in '97-'99 stratus' but the Tach doesn't work in that case. This only will work (such as it does) if the Stratus has a manual trans and the Neon computer is from a MTX neon of the same year. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
