You have to slowly turn the steering wheel left to right several times. Do not however turn steering wheel all the way to lock. Keep eye on fluid and fill as necessary.

Also disable vehicle so it will not start. With front wheels off the round, turn wheels left and right while cranking engine. Turn them 3 or 4 times then go to right lock and stop cranking engine. Lock steering wheel and let sit for a few minutes until the fluid stops bubbling. Do same procedure for left lock.
