1998 Chevrolet Calvalier 2.2L Automatic

I've changed the hydraulic engine mount, and the torque strut, because the engine would move 6-10" when changing gears.

Then I replaced the water pump and thermostat to keep the temps down.

And I've changed the basic stuff too (like the air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, and some others)

Now I'm thinking about 02 Sensors and new Sparkplugs, and maybe some new wires.

I went to Kragen and they told me I needed 2 O2 Sensors, and it would be something like $70 each. And Sparkplugs are $4 a piece for the BOSCH series. I dont know how much wires are going to be.

I just wanted to make sure the 2.2L needs 2 O2 sensors. And I found some O2 sensors for a 2.2L on Summitracing.com for $20 and some for $70, the $20 option said it only had 1 wire, and the $70 option had 4 wires. Do I need the 4 wires? I have no clue what to get for O2 sensors, or where to get them. I could use some tips/help. Thanks for reading.

wait do u have ur engine light on? did they scanned it for codes?

before installing sensors make sure u really need them

and for spark plugs u dont need the expensive bosch use the original spark plugs

i say napa will be a good place to buy what u need but before going on a shopping rampage make sure u need it

No, I have not got them scanned, but I thought it was sort of a maintenance thing to do. The previous owner did not do anything to the car, but take it to Jiffy lube every year. My local mechanic thinks I should change them as well.

Why not get good plugs? is there such thing as too much spark? Btw, they arent much more anyways.

O2 sensors are a usual tune-up kind of thing, they can start giving false readings and will yeild you poor fuel mileage little by little. You can't go wrong with good plugs, more spark = better fuel combustion = better fuel mileage... but that doesnt mean you need to buy top of the line, just dont buy cheap'os.

yea change the o2 sensor, they say do it every 50k miles. but yea the rear one is a 4 wire and go with acdelco on the 02 sensors becasue they last longer. and stay away form bosch on the spark plugs.

Okay, thanks guys. I will buy some spark plugs from another brand. I will change the O2 sensors next paycheck. As for now, I'm just going to get some Sparkplugs, plug wires, and a K&N airfilter. Who sells ACDelco O2 sensors, other than Chevrolet? I pretty much figure they will be more expensive than Napa/Kragen.

Btw, what should the spark gap be for the 2.2L
