Hello, i have a 03 passat and there is oil in the coolant reservoir. Its like a white paste type. Where could this be coming from, Could a shop hae put in my there on accident?

Also i have a coolant leak, its right next to the firewall. And its right next to the small metal canister looking thing right on the side of the valve cover to the right side of it.

Any help would be helpful

sounds like someone put dexacool (gm pinkinsh color coolant) or some radiator stop leak kind of stuff.
by "right" side of the engine do you mean passenger side?

hey, yes near the passanger side there is this black plastic piece where some hoses go into. It bolts up to the head near the firewall.
Could that cause the oil'y stuff inside the reservoir?

my oil cooler failed and leaked all my oil into the coolant. oil and coolant mixed looks like a light, coffee colored paste. what was the problem, did you ever figure it out?
