$1721 for a fuel pump? '96 diesel wagondeubster 07-12-2006, 07:16 PM Details - it's my sister's car, a '96 Passat diesel wagon. It had a fuel leak at the motor. She lives in Carlsbad, NM, they couldn't fix it there, she brought it to me in Lubbock to take to the VW dealer. Here's what they charged: Belt $45.67 "Injec Pump" $1721.14 (part no. 028-130-115-GX) Roller $67.30 Clip $1.09 Core Return -$600.00 Labor $520.00 Diagnosis $90.00 "PTS Handling" $5.00 Shop Supplies $50.00 Taxes $101.90 Total $2002.10 My sister feels like she has been fleeced, perhaps because she's female, perhaps because she's from out of town, perhaps because this dealer fleeces everybody. So how reasonable or unreasonable do these charges look? Thanks in advance. veedubmechanic 07-15-2006, 08:10 PM Thats an "injector" pump and it runs off the timing belt and controls the injector timing. They run that much. But I dont believe that it would be leaking. I have never seen one leak before. And it looks like they replaced the timing belt also which is good. More likely the fuel filter or fuel lines at the filter / injector pump were leaking. The filter is on the passenger side next to the belts and has 4 fuel lines coming off of it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
