My son has a 1994 escort stationwagon. Just recently the fan switch
inside the car stopped working. This switch control heat, defrost and ac.
When you press the center of the switch you can hear the ac compressor trying to start. Is this a fuse, relay problem. Can someone please help my
son and I.
Thanks for all the help,
Dave and Matt

The switch has to functions... as a dial it controls the speed of the fan, and as a button it gives power to the AC.
It sounds as if the AC is engaging as it should.... but the fan simply isn't blowing. I'd suggest two things... determine if power is reaching the blower motor, and locate and check the resistor in the fan switch circuit.

Being a 94... I think your blower motor is probably toast. It is pretty easy to replace if so. Just get down there and locate the main wires to it and check for power. If power is there... the motor is gone. If power isn't there... trace it backwards to the switch.

Hmm... there is also a 30A fuse in the panel on the driver side... probably labled heater/blower or something of the sort... check that out.

It's easy. Start at the glove box. Just below it under the dash is the blower motor. It is black and round with about a 5 inch diameter electrical motor below it. Take the wiring clip off of it and pull out the small screws holding it in. It drops straight down. Take the fan loose from the motor as you will need it to put back on the new one..
