$125 Dust and Pollen Filter

I have a 2003 Accord. I'm getting my 60K service and I called three dealers. The quoted prices for this service were $260, $385, and $433. I asked the $260 dealer why they were less expensive than the others, and they said they do not do the dust and pollen filter, an intricate replacement requiring the removal of the glove box. Essentially, if I wanted it done, I'd have to pay $125 more.

Is there a way for me to replace this filter myself? Does the above information mesh with your experiences?

On the 2003 model, the pollen filter can be removed/installed without removing much of anything. I believe it took me 10 minutes on my parent's 2003, and that included unloading all the junk from the glove compartment. On my 1998 (previous generation), you do have to remove the glove compartment and a portion of the frame behind the glove compartment. On the 2003, I believe it is just a little flap that you pull off.

I'm betting the service manager has his/her years mixed up....Good luck, Glen

Or that wants to get over on you and may use a model year "mixup" as an excuse if found out

My dealer wanted $78 just to replace the filter. I bought a replacement filter at Advance Auto Parts for $14 and replaced it in less than 5 minutes. Very simple. Good luck!
