Outside Temp Thermometerbpotter1988 07-10-2006, 01:53 AM I have a 1999 Olds Intrigue. The Outside Temp inticator is always reading about 50 degrees lower than that of what it really is. This wouldn't be a problem if not for the fact that the A/C wont turn on unless the car thinks it's warmer than 45 degrees outside. And on a 90 degree day this is very annoying. I need to know where the sensor is located so I can attempt to fix it. If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. LittleHoov 07-10-2006, 02:28 AM The sensor is located in at the front end of the car in front of the radiator, on the plastic that goes up from the front bumper... If you lay on your back and stick your head just behind the front bumper you should see it. If you cant find it I can snap a pic for you at some point tomorrow. Mine is going haywire as well, and I havent replaced it yet. The part is called an ambient temperature sensor. GM part number 10248414. They arent very expensive, should be less than 10 bucks at a dealer. bpotter1988 07-11-2006, 03:22 PM Thank you so much. You have no idea how much that really helped me. Now I can finally have my car the way it's supposed to be. LittleHoov 07-11-2006, 05:57 PM I take it you got it fixed? Did it take care of your problems? Mine is doing the same thing so im just curious. bpotter1988 07-12-2006, 12:04 AM Oddly enough all I did was turn the car on so the temp display came up and unplugged the sensor. The display went to 50 and I plugged it back in and now it works perfectly. I'm not sure if it just had to reset or what but it's worth a try. LittleHoov 07-12-2006, 01:25 AM probably unplugging and plugging it back in had a bit of a cleaning effect on it, i need to take mine off and give it a good cleaning before I rule it out as being dead. Keep an eye on it though, I did the same thing you did, and it worked fine for a while then started acting up again. cmswik 07-21-2006, 03:33 PM I just bought a 98 Intrigue last week. Noticed on the test drive that the exterior temp kept jumping all over the place. The owner said it had always been like that since she bought the car. After I bought the car, I came across this thread. Yesterday I went to a dealer in town and bought the sensor you guys mentioned for something like $9. I installed it in less than five minutes and now the temp is reading perfectly. Thanks for the help! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
