01 JGC ticking and idling roughmrobnson 07-08-2006, 12:57 PM While on vacation last week my JGC broke down, it just died while going down the highway and would restart for about 15 seconds then die again. The machanic that worked on it had a hard time figuring out the problem and ended up replacing the camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor and the coil pack (they actually put a new coil pack on but when it didn't help they forgot to take it back off and put the old one back on). But since we've been home I have noticed that there is a "ticking" noise when the engine is running, all the time while idle or on the go. My husband has listened to it and said that it is idling rough too, like it is out of time. The local mechanic says that there is no timing adjustment so it cannot be out of time. Has anyone else had something like this happen? There is also a new squeaking noise when I am stopped or going slow but it seems to go away when going down the road. Thanks in advance for any advice, Michelle AngelouS 07-19-2006, 04:37 PM usually a tick followed by a rough idle means that you have a spark plug wire thats not hooked up properly or has burned throught to another peice of metal. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
