2000: Oil light comes on around curvesoabreese 07-08-2006, 10:33 AM I have a 2000 Malibu LS, 3.1L V6... During normal highway driving the oil light never comes on. On roads with tight curves the oil light pops on during the curve, then once the road straightens out it immediately pops off. Is this a funky filter or sensor? Or perhaps some a wiring thing? Thanks for all of your thoughts and suggestions!! Olivia tractorboy 07-10-2006, 04:22 PM have you opened the hood and checked the level of your funky oil ? oabreese 07-11-2006, 08:08 AM Yes I have. All weekly oil checks show it as full. Additionally there are no engine leaks and the oil is changed every 3000. So, any other advice? niccaleb112602 07-12-2006, 08:12 AM Isn't the float sensor in the bottom of the oil pan? Check for loose or a corroded connection were it plugs in. I had a problem with my speed sensor acting up in that matter, found the plug was corroded. Suppose to be water tight seal, but I know its from the automatic car wash that sprays the undercarriage that got water in it. tractorboy 07-13-2006, 08:42 AM weather pack sockets can get water in them, just in case, with the ignition off disconnect the connector and squirt both with electrical contact cleaner. since this is only happening in one mode ie. going around a corner. I would have to think it is the sensor itself / float and not the connection. Does it matter whether you are going to the left or to the right ? There is the really slight / remote chance it couls be the PCM. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
