hi guys!I am new here, and new to the Caprice as it is my first car!I got it recently as a graduation gift. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could help me out as to how I should customize it.I want to keep it stock but with a little twist.I was thinking maybe a nice paint job,a nice of 22" wheels or keep it simple with hubs and white wall tires??? I am also looking for more power...SUPERCHARGER? Please Help

Alright, I'm going to attempt to save you before half this forum demands you give up your keys. Loose the HUGE tires idea; its too cliche and looks ridiculous, especially on such a good car. As far as power, this topic has been covered in great detail, just search the forum. Common ideas would be:

-adding a better flowing exhaust
-an air intake that flows more air
-a throttle body with more/better flow
-higher flowing injectors
-better cam
-better heads
-turbocharge/supercharge
-reduce weight
-bigger engine (if you have a 305, maybe drop in a 350, or even a 383)
-adding nitrous
-hood scoop
-add a wing and some decals (just kidding, that is some ricer myth)

However, keep in mind with these ideas, these mods are cumulative (each works better with the others, not without them) and most mods will probably not give you a great jump by itself (like expecting 50hp from adding a better exhaust alone), and all those mods can mean a lot of money. So, if you do want to do some power enhancements, don't expect some magical increase from small mods like in the movies (it only works in the movies). Also, establish your budget before hand, because these mods CAN get expensive and even more if you have someone else do them for you (good help IS expensive).

you can find rebuilt 350's for $300-$700 depending on how hard you look.

i'd go w/ the 383 and a dual exhaust, some cheap 16" U.S. Wheels and blackwall tires.
it'll give it that agressive look you want, and cost about the same as the 22's alone

Ok. 1st of all. Stop saying that big rims dont look good on Caprices. I have some 24's and my car runs perfect. So all these lies about it handles bad or it mess up the transmission needs to stop. i dont like racing rims or crate rims on caprices. Thats ugly. But the oringinal hubs looks good too..

I will never stop saying it kills handling. Why? Because I have experience, and that experience tells me that when you whack out the suspension geometry, handling goes out along with it.

And, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I think 24s look like crap on a Caprice, but that's me. Looks too cartoonish.

Plus - congratulations on completely throwing out the rule about posting in old threads and posting in one that's 14 months old!

If you want your car to be in a stupid rap video, then by all means put on the 22's. Hell, just go for the 24's. However, if you want your car to look nice, presentable, and not gaudy, then listen to everyone else in this forum.

What are the biggest size rims I can fit on my 95 9c1 caprice without having yo cut/mess up suspension? I think big rims look great as long as you dont put them on a ugly car like a ford taurus, contour, etc. Thats just my opinion though. :grinyes:

Just remember that real car guys go with larger rims for one reason - to stuff in larger brakes. If it's done properly, a larger rim can let you run a smaller profile tire for improved handling - but no more than 17"-18".

I'm not wanting rims for performance. I want them for looks. I would never put anything smaller than 20s on my car since I don't race (at least not that much) :grinyes: I know 22s fit on caprices without cutting/modifying, so will 23s fit? If so, what offset, tire size, etc, do I need? I cant see myself putting 17s or 18s on my car. I would leave the black police rims with poilce caps on my car and just get smaller tires before I do that.

So, you want the cartoon wheels.

Zero offset, 3" backspacing. Select a rim on the formula that the Caprice was designed for total tire diameters not exceeding 28-29" and go from there. If you want 24s on it, and don't want to do any cutting or other suspension work, you will require 20 series tires (the sidewalls can NOT be any taller than 2"-2.5").

ty silicon212 and yes, I want the cartoon wheels... lol. What size tires would i need for 23"s without cutting and what bolt pattern do I need...5 X what????

I would like to try and fit 30 series tires instead of 25 if possible so that I can get on the highway sometimes. Can I get on the highway with a set of 225/25/23? I used a wheel calculator and it says if I go with 225/25/23, it will be .1" larger than the stock 225/70/15s I have on it now and 30s would be 3.3% larger. Here are the results of the calculator. I would link the website, but i don't know how you feel about posting links, so... let me know if its ok for me to list it. The first one is the difference with 25 tires, the second is with 30 tires.

I say just stick with 20"s, you dont have to lift the box triple c's to do that and you can still claim you got dubs.

but I got this thing for 23"s for some reason
