when you turn the key to start you bird, what happens? at first thought, sounds like the starter and or solenoid. in my 89 Tbird the starter and solenoid are seperate. I don't know if the same is true for the 8 cylinder birds. if so I would just replace both since they should not be to expensive and go from there.

i would start with the solenoid. if this tbirds solenoid is inside the starter, than replace the entire starter. if the solenoid is seperate (on my 89 bird its right next to the battery) than try replacing the solenoid first.
