High RPMshello 07-06-2006, 01:50 AM Hey guys what's happening? When I start my 94 escort, it revs high( 1500-2500rpm) for 5 of more minutes. I am thinking it's summer, there should be no reason for it to take that long to warm up. what it's even doing these days is; if I start the car, drive for 1/2 mile or so when I press the clutch, the revs race back up. Help anyone; let me know if it's an oxygen sensor or something. Thank you mightymoose_22 07-06-2006, 02:03 AM Idle air control valve. It is on top of the throttle body, usually silver and about the sixe of a couple of D batteries. Replace it. Davescort97 07-06-2006, 08:31 AM It's the IAC valve. Remove the wiring and take it off with an 8mm wrench. Save the gasket. Spray the valve with carburator cleaner and oil it with a light machine oil such as 3 in 1 oil. This may work. If it doesn't you can get another one at the parts place. shello 07-06-2006, 12:26 PM Thanx. Gonna try that. You guys are the greatest. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
