1996 passat VR6 GLX sluggishsinecure2000 06-30-2006, 02:20 PM I recently purchased a 1996 Passat GLX VR6S WITH 75,000 miles. It runs well, but is very slow. It does not accelerate well, and struggles with hills. I recently had the codes read. Apparently there is a problem with the Throttle Positioning System. I also know it need a tune up I am not too mechanically inclined. I just wanted to know if these two problems would cause the lack of power. Any advice would be very helpful. veedubmechanic 07-03-2006, 10:15 PM yes they will. A faulty throttle body or throttle position sensor will cause the engine to run in "limp mode" and run very sluggishly vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
