93 accord only running on #1 and #3 cylindersrasta1 06-29-2006, 01:47 PM My 93 accord is only running on the #2 and #4 cylinders. The problem started with difficult starts in the mornings (I live in Hawaii...don't think this counts as a cold start) and it would be even more difficult to start after being parked in the sun for a while. After getting started, it would idle really rough - like it is doing full time now- but would eventually start idling normally after about 15-30 seconds. The problem got progressively worse with the strong fuel odor at each attempt to the point where it would not start. After noticing a leak around the injector for the #2 cylinder, I salvaged 4 jets from a 92 Accord soaked them in Fuel injector cleaner for a couple hours and fitted them to my 93 Accord. Now It is still very hard to start, and when it does, I can take off the #2 and #4 plug wires and it will not make a difference in the way the car idles (rough). I changed the spark plugs/ wires, distributor cap, rotor all within this month, though I have noticed a gouge in one of the contact post inside the distributor cap. Can anyone offer some insight on how to overcome these issues? I have soaked the 4 original injectors in injector cleaner and I am thinking about putting them back on, however after fitting the straw-like nozzle from a can of compressed air over the needle like tip at the bottom of the jets in attempt to blow out any residual cleaning solution, I realized the air passed freely through two of the jets but did not through the other two. Should I be concerned about this? Thanks Rasta maroongrad 07-06-2006, 11:10 AM Be concerned. Sounds like they're clogged, and a soaking in cleaner wasn't enough to get the gunk out. You'll either need to find a way to clean the inside so those two can start injecting again, or get some new ones. Based on the gas smell, I would have thought they were getting gas into the engine but it wasn't igniting. Clogged filters or injectors would absolutely make the cylinder stop working...not sure how to clean out the inside of them if a soaking and compressed air isn't working though. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
