I have had recent probelms with 4.0 overheating. By overheating I mean the temp gauge redlining. Twice in the past two weeks. First time I shut it down for a few hours, drove it for a week w/ no problem. Today it did it for the second time, then it went to normal and then back to red line in same 2 mile trip.

Diagnostic codes are 0031, 0051, and 01136

My thoughts are something is not kicking in when it should? Thoughts

Probably an intermittent electric fan.
The first two codes are 02 sensor related.
01136 is not listed--maybe that was code 1196 ?

It was 0136. Sorry. These codes only appeared with the check engine light at the time of the first overheating. I think the overheating is due to a problem with the infamous cooling fan relay. (one of everyones favorite JGC quirks) which I will change this weekend. I'm not sure how that could cause damage to oxygen sensor etc.

0136 is also 02 sensor related.

(O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction - Bank 1, Sensor 2)
