I Added To The K&n Fipk...4.7 Wjjeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 03:01 PM Ok, I have been reading what people had to say about the FIPK. Is it worth it or not? I think so.. Some ppl believe that the FIPK is sucking in alot of hot air versus the stock set-up. I agree with that.. All you have is the heat shield provided..Not good enough...So heres what I just did... I went to Home Depot and picked me a roll of aluminum flashing. 20"X10' for $11.. I redrilled the holes in the heat shield in order to raise it up 1" so that the weather stripping on the heat shield makes alot better contact with hood when closed...It seals it off better ...I think thats what they intended in the first place but who knows... After redrilling and reinstalling heat shield I started cutting the aluminum into smaller pieces..I ended up using 2 pieces and screwed them together after forming them into the right shape...I then screwed the aluminum and heat shield together... Kind of made a full wrap around version of the heat shield and with the hood making better contact with the weather stripping on the heat shield I would say its pretty much enclosed...I drove around for a while and got the engine (http://65.42.106.152/forums/showthread.php?t=744692#) up to running temp stopped popped the hood and touched the aluminum and it was only warm to the touch... I think that means I am keeping the air a little cooler at the filter...right? What I think I have done is kinda made it enclosed just like the factory set up all the way through...just not airtight...I also reinstalled the piece that directs air from grill to filter and its pushing the air right to the K&N filter... Then I painted it black and it looks pretty good.... Any Thoughts bringselpup 06-28-2006, 10:39 PM I think we need a pic. :bigthumb: jeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 10:53 PM jeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 10:54 PM jeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 10:54 PM jeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 10:55 PM jeepgclwj 06-28-2006, 10:57 PM Sorry about all the posts.
