hi all. kinda new here..posted along time ago

i have a 96 PI.

the wheel is very slow to return to neutral. At some rotations you can just leave it there and drive in circles no hands!

is the steering box roached? How much work is changing it out? i have some skills but havent got a manual yet.

How dangerous is it?

thx

Disconnect the steering shaft at the coupler up near the firewall below the brake booster. There is a small u-joint that will bind yo. Be sure it moves freely in all directions. You can spray it with penetreting oil and work it all around for a while and it will free up. If it is frozen, use a screwdriver to get some leverage to free it up. Try that before you go to the box.

Cool:smokin: thanks for replying. It is the u-joint.

I pb blasted it and the return is noticably better. Probalbly still needs taken apart but i hope lithium grease and some time/use will clear it up.
