I have removed the aluminum tube and gave it a good cleaning inserting a strong steel wire and giving it a kind of bottle brush cleaning...quite a good amount of black carbon came out...put it back and 14 miles later the cel is on. I spoke with the the parts manager of the dealership and he advised that the bpt valve may be the culprit...it is costing 55 bucks and was told that they will not take it back once opened...not too sure whether that is the culprit... how to ignore the knock sensor code? I have the state inspection coming up in 8 weeeks.... I will still keep experimenting and will post back if I ever crack the problem thanks bkinnon 07-07-2006, 01:30 PM Hi. I have the same problem now and have done a bit of research. I think the knock sensor problem may be caused by a weak EGR. I get a lot of knocking when starting to move so that suggests to me that the EGR is lagging in some way. So far the suggestions I've seen are : use better gas (>90 ouch at that price), blast out the throttle body with some cleaner, check the connection on the knock sensor & cable, under the lower rad front, change the gas cap, and change another control that I don't remember (have to search the threads for that one). I haven't tried any of these solutions yet so I don't know what may work. Good Luck. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
