Gonna be starting a project car and need to know which engine should get i mean they both have there ups and im just stuck between the two but it will be JDM Nismo all the way and about a 2 year project let me KNOW

i am fairly certain no one can really answer that unless they can read minds. first, what are you looking to do? rb25 is going to make a lot more power than the sr. sr is much cheaper and less to fabricate and bit easier to get mods/parts in the states. and don't forget about the ka. it can be moded cheaply and make plenty of power as well.

research research research. look up prices, aftermarket support, peoples experiences, swap difficulty, read FAQs, find write ups, etc.

and like zauber said, dont forget about the KA. its got a good amount of displacement + iron block/head = lots of potential. check out KA-T.org before kicking the KA to the curb.

An (edit:)R33 RB25 will be cheaper then an s14 SR20 with VTC in the long run if you are looking for a higher HP application.

Make sure you get the front clip if you go with the RB25 though cause you'll need some parts from the GTS-T to fit it. you'll need to use the skyline Crossmember and bend the power steering lines a bit.

you would probably benefit from McKinney motor and tranny mounts, it makes the swap as easy as an SR20 swap. You can get a custom 1 peice drive shaft from them too.

S14 SR20 VTC = 3000.00

A little bit more expensive at first, but alot cheaper to modify for higher HP applications.

and here i thought they didnt make an r32 rb25det...i thought they only had rb25de until the r33 came out.

but as far as your car goes, i guess id go SR if were you. it doesnt sound like your a speed junkie, and the SR will make more than enough power for the street. plus theres a bajillion parts for it. but that whole "JDM" thing i dont agree with. im all for sick parts that they only sell in japan, but to try and make your car JDMtyteyo is sort of dumb. not speaking to you directly but to JDMricers in general: your car is LHD. it was sold and driven and licensed in the U.S. no matter what you do, its still gonna be a USDM car. go ahead and waste thousands on a RHD conversion and the japan only hole-in-dash-where-ours-is-filled-in thingy. ill make my car faster and cooler please.

Yeah thats my bad, i meant to type R33, but I'm used to typing R32 cause im normally talking about the RB26...so yeah, R33 front clip will be around 2500.00.

easy slideways easy lol. Im with you totally on your logic, but some people just enjoy that type stuff. Im a jdm styling myself, but i like the ka. Its just more logical in my eyes. Plus you can always get some "jdm tyte" stuff for the ka. Like bovs, wastegates, intercoolers, etc. Its all just fabrication. And for the record the ka is jdm lol. It was made in fuku...(ok i dont remember the alphabet looking name)....but it was made in japan. All the "truck" engines were made in mexico. I mean we rock some jdm tyte exhaust dont we. People around here never even knew they made exhausts lololololol, they thought it was a coilover company only.

u should look up this company named jarcoinc. they can do the whole front half of the car if u wanted. i even got him to throw in the whole rear end with my s13 front half. if u want, they will even get a video of the car running before they cut it in half.
