brake resevoir issue

Hi folks,
I have a '99 GS300 with 60K miles. After a week or two of mild around-town driving, the fluid in the brake resevoir is low. I can restore the fluid level by pumping the brake pedal about 40 times with the engine and ignition off. This works for the interim, but I'm wondering what's really going on. There are no apparent leaks. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

As your brakes wear, the pistons in the calipers don't retract as much therefore the fluid level drops. This is normal and to be expected. Top off with the appropriate brake fluid. Don't pump your brake pedal 40 times, this can cause master cylinder failure.

Hi kimMG.....Thanks for your reply. What you said makes a lot of sense. The brake pads are original. I appreciate you're taking the time to educate me.
