Sorry I am not a fan of the 6.5. Have you checked for trouble codes? RunMonkeyRun 06-22-2006, 02:10 PM HA HA HA, exactly what I was thinking I hate the piece of @$%$! I am getting no codes what so ever, truck makes me sick. drof 06-22-2006, 10:34 PM Hi guys, I have a 99 6.5 diesel pain in butt, not all the time but most times when running I turn the truck off and the damm thing won't start again, sometimes it takes 1hr even 5 hrs, but if its cold no problem. any ideas? I have similar problem with mine, I’m going to try replacing the shut off solenoid on the injector pump when I get time. I think it could be sticking closed when hot. Last night the truck wouldn’t start after a run. As I was at the house I was able to investigate more thoroughly than previous times like in Home depot parking lot. The solenoid seemed to be working ok so I decided to open the bleed valve on the fuel filter and discovered no diesel coming up the line while cranking. The problem, the electric pump, which is situated inside the chassis leg under the drivers seat. It seems most times the injector pump can deliver fuel it’s self. In my case the wire connector to the pump had come undone I reconnected it and it fired right up. I would suggest the next time you have trouble check for fuel at the filter bleed screw, if you don’t see any check the electric lift pump. Hope this is of some help. bracketshark 07-06-2006, 09:56 PM Try looking here for help, these guys know the 6.5 diesel http://www.dieseldoctor.com/diesel-message-board/viewforum.php?f=1 RunMonkeyRun 07-11-2006, 04:30 PM Well thats interesting because I opened the valve and to my surpise no fuel, I will defintely look at that, thanks I only wish it was this simple for me. Throw me a bone truck!!! 70camino 02-07-2008, 12:40 AM look into an FSD cooler, could be the fuel solenoid heating up, I think that when it gets a certain temp it shuts off if too hot, look at this site http://www.ssdieselsupply.com/index.html vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
