97 voyager overheated now trans in 2nd gearbass4jc 06-15-2006, 09:45 AM This is a 97 Voyager with 3.0 engine got overheated I fix the Problem 2 days later I was driving down the Hwy when the transmission started acting up like coming off 3rd gear got off the highway first it was running in 1st then I got it to go into 2nd ,any advise out there? Van has 154 K miles vipergg 06-15-2006, 05:52 PM Nope you will have to get the tranny scanned for codes , it is currently in limp mode (2nd gear) so it senses there is a problem somewhere , until you get it scanned at the dealer or autozone it is hard to tell . At 154K , if its the original I would be prepared for the worst... duncan21 06-15-2006, 11:36 PM At about at 154K, you would need a major tune-up and the if it's the orginal transmision, prpare for more nightmares. spalko004 08-03-2006, 12:23 AM I got the same problem and the end result is to replace the tranny... RIP 08-03-2006, 04:14 AM When you overheated, the tranny fluid overheated too because the tranny fluid gets cooled in the bottom of the radiator. Try changing the tranny fluid then disconnect the battery for a couple minutes. That will reset the PCM and clear any codes you may have and maybe your problem. The others are probably right but, might be worth a try. What have you got to lose? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
