My 98 stratus gas gauge starts to go to empty (the check fuel light comes on) and then returns to normal. This happens very often and I'm afraid that it will finally quit working altogether soon. Any help?... Thanks

Probally needs the sending unit.You can get the sending unit by itself from the dealer instead of replacing the whole fuel pump.All the dealer needs is the vin to get the sending unit.

Is the sending unit located in the fuel tank?

It is in the tank part of the fuel pump.
