I was 'gifted' a 93 Camry 4cly with 190,000 miles on it...the engine was just blown, hole in the side of the block. Body looks very good.
Looking at replacing it with a rebuilt engine, best local price is $1800 with a very good warranty of 2 yrs. However, that does not include the pulling and replacment. Another Fellow wants $700 to pull and replace it, says it must be done from the bottom, in other words, a special stand to drop the engine.

Is this the only way to get the engine out? Any thoughts on this whole process?
Thanks,
tom

Welcome to the AF!
Engine comes out the top. Download and read the Toyota service manual in the sticky post at the top of this forum (relevant link below).

Thank you Brian,
I am a newbie for sure!
Can you tell me how an estimate of howlong it should take to R&R this engine?

Sorry, I don't have any idea. I guess you could remove it in a day if you were really good. However, it doesn't take much to prolong this process.

Hint: Take many pictures as you go and label everything that makes any kind of connection.
