Speedometer issues

Ok so here's the problem, and its got me stumped. Car is a 95 gt, quad. I was on the highway coming home from work today around 70 or so, had the cruise on, suddenly it shut off and the speedo went to 30. Bounced back up, then every time I hit the gas it would drop back down, let off the gas it comes back up. One of the ramps I take , good hard right turn about 3/4 of a circle, speedo acted normal the rest of the ride, cruise worked, nothing strange happened. The odometer kept working through all this, turned at the normal rate for the speed I was going. Any thoughts?

Wouldn't suprise me considering the car has 260k miles on it. Has not acted up since monday, drove about 180 miles yesterday and used the cruise most of the time.

Pretty sure you dont hav a speed-O cable, its electronic. So... Maybe check around the speed-O connector on the trans tail, think thats where its located.
Those dashes do crap out, not to much for a used one.

And its a quad to boot. I'm thinking its not the speed sensor, the odometer was working ok when the speedo was doing its funky stuff, possibly the speedo head, if it even has one.
