When you say this year you mean 2002 or 2003?

The GTS class leader (the prodrive 550) retired with a blown engine (I think) this year :(

But offered as a production car? Or just something through prodrive like the Impreza STi WRC? I need details!

ok OK OK OK OK OK

it is the 2003 season they are aiming for.

And prodrive will convert YOUR ferrari (kinda like lingenfelter and henessey) but it wont go into production by ferrari ( not that I know of yet) so ...

1) You buy the 550 Maranello
2) You take it to Prodrive
3) You spend 750,000 to have it Le Mans Tuned
4) In some countries it can be road legal fully tuned, but in the US you would have to skip the extreme lowering and some other minor parts

Porsche ...are you thinking of converting your 550? lol j/k

PORSCHE.. I WAS WRONG..the prodrive ferrari is racing NOW. It is to compete in ( i believe) its first race at Leguna Seca Racway on 9-22. It is said to be tough competition for the C5R Corvettes.

here is what the American Le Mans website says:

"PRODRIVE RENEWS BATTLE WITH THE CORVETTES

LONDON (August 20, 2002) -- Prodrive will go head to head with the US Corvette team in the last three rounds of the American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca, Miami and Road Atlanta.
The Prodrive Ferrari 550 GTS Maranello will renew its battle after having to retire from the Le Mans 24 Hours at the half way stage while holding a comfortable class lead over the American team. "
