1995 Camry stalls occasionallyfolken 06-10-2006, 10:08 PM Hey , my 1995 Camry, 4 cyl, sometimes stalls. You start it and the rpms go to about 200 and quits. It's hard to start again. Then it works fine for several days and presto, you start it up, revs to only 200 or below and stalls. Sometimes you can catch it and push the gas and the rpms go up and it doesn't stall. Wierd how it works fine for days and then oops stalls...errrr Can you give me the top 2 or three thing it needs? please Thanks Folken InstallTech 06-11-2006, 02:16 PM First thing I'd check are spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor and ignition coil. None are too expensive individually. Plugs can run about 6 bucks. Plug wires around 20 to 40 depending on the type you get. Cap and rotor are about 20 bucks each. Coil is about 40. folken 06-12-2006, 07:54 AM First thing I'd check are spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor and ignition coil. None are too expensive individually. I guess Toyota doesn't recommend a 'real' tuneup, so I haven't had one except the plugs once LOL... One guy mentioned to clean the idle throttle air control valve- whatever that is- any thoughts on that as well?...........tks Folken burchard 06-13-2006, 02:15 PM if it is a warm stall there is a good chance that it is the temp sensor. (ECT senor) Search this site for info. Also cleaning the idle valve is not a bad idea. Check this site. Good luck ricebike 06-13-2006, 02:31 PM did u check for trouble codes? what are they? burchard 06-13-2006, 02:52 PM the codes can be misleading. I would first try to clean the IDLE valve, the EGR valve. Probably you really need to da that any ways. If you keep getting warm stalls the ECT might be defective. The problem with the ECT malfunction is that is very erratic and might be confusing . The manual explain how to test it. Probably the best advice is to replace the sensor. It cheap and it takes 5 minuts to replace. folken 06-13-2006, 06:20 PM the codes can be misleading. I would first try to clean the IDLE valve, the EGR valve. Tks, I cleaned the throttle and idle valve, put new plugs, wires, cap rotor and pcv valve. I'll now monitor to see results....Tks Folken folken 06-27-2006, 01:26 PM Tks, I cleaned the throttle and idle valve, put new plugs, wires, cap rotor and pcv valve. Since doing the above, everything has been smooth sailing...Thanks :p JOET/CAMRY 06-27-2006, 03:11 PM Tks, I cleaned the throttle and idle valve, put new plugs, wires, cap rotor and pcv valve.
