I'm just curious and you'd rather not ask why I came up with this, let's just say this is an alternative to a chevy in a nissan. Got your attention? good here's my question. The KA24 has it's limits, as does the SR20, I don't think I would pass inspection with an RB20, so I've looked at a domestic japanese engine, the 300zx twin turbo engine. Is there any support at all to this swap? Has anyone made a swap kit? crossmember? etc.

If done, are there any videos on the net of a 240 with this? I'm sure we'd all like to see that.

id say probably not. its a BIG engine. if youve ever seen the engine bay of a 300zx, its soooo cramped. twin turbos, twin throttles, twin intercoolers, tons of piping.

id say if you want something cool, origional and fast, swap in a mazda 13b, 20b, or even a 1jz.

oh wait those probly wont pass either if an rb20 doesnt...but maybe...you could check

im pretty sure there is a video on street fire of some onevia with a vg, but have you ever thought of swapping in a vk? probably harder swap then the vg, but i think it weighs less than the ka. ultimate swap in my opinion, these engines make 300+ hp stock, and i think they can be mated to a 300zx trans with minimal customization. here are some pics i have collected. i think these are mostly vh swaps, but i doubt there is a size difference betweeen the 45s.

America got the 13b and 1jz didn't we? I'm just pointing out engines that were already cleared for emmissions here. It shouldn't matter what car it's used in so those would pass. wait I'm not sure if we got the 1jz, that was the 80's supra right?

Lol can you say big block hood? That's definitely what it needs, some ram air or a cowl hood. something for the intake. That looks insane. I'll search for the video.

That was easy, but it's not loading for me yet.

no actually we didnt get the 1jz. its the 2.5L single turbo straight six from one of the japan only 3rd gen supras, and the toyota chaser.
you could however do the 3rd gen US market supra motor, which is the single turbo 3.0L 7m-gte. its n/a version is also found in the toyota cressida, but those are rare.

we did get the 13b though. it is the fuel injection 1.3L rotary found in the 2nd and 3rd gen rx-7s. a good one would be the 180hp(i think) single turbo 13b from the 2nd gen rx-7. the twin turbo engine has 260hp but is rarer, more expensive, and you have to know the motor well to deal with some of its downsides(heat issues, and complicated turbo systems.)

If you are worried about a visual inspection then I would say a turbo'd KA, SR or RB motor would like a lot more stock in a 240 then a VG would. If you are worried about a smog test then you just need a way to get around that, whatever that might end of being. EGR or PCV tweaking, AIV altering...making a custom mid pipe with two or three catalytic converters in a row...whatever works.

sucks to be you guys, UK emissionas allow just about anything. RB26DETTs, SR20DETs are stock in all 200sxs (because they're 2-litre) 2JZ-GTE etc..

is it possible to put a VQ35 into a silvia?

doesnt suck to be me because in MN there are no emissions or smog laws.
none
i can run nitrous and alchohol on the street in any engine in any car and as long as a cop doesnt actually SEE the bottle, he wont do shit.
no fuel testing by cops, no one cares if you have a cat, complete freedom

Really, unless you just want something to do for fun, imo, its not worth it. You will spend a lot of time and money to get things to work. Most parts to fit the engine in the car will have to be custom, not to mention the larger motor will completely throw off what makes a 240 special....the balance of the nimble car. I had a RB25 in my S13 and I hate how it handled. The straight line power was cool but the car was just not as fun. Thats when the S15 motor went in.
