Manual Transmission problem (Clutch?)

I have a 92 Accord ex and recently when I went up a really steep drive way I had in a too high of a gear and I know i burned the hell out of the clutch, as it was followed by a terrible smell...

Following this occasion it was hard to smoothly shift gears as it was messed up some how... it has done this before with less harsh happenings and go awya after the car cools down.

I'm still having problems about 4 months later.

Now when I am in gear... lets say I am in 4th gear going steadily at 50 and I have the need to accelerate quickly,,,, If I push in the gas a considerable amount the car should steadily inscrease in speed... but with my car it does not accelerate much and the RPM's shoot up excessively... the only way to accelerate now is to accelerate slowly without giving it too much gas, it is difficult to get started on the interstate

Also When I go up an slopes even if they are not very steep it is a real pain to get up as the people behind me get pissed at my slow steady speed acceleration.

Do I need a new Clutch? Did i destroy the transmission some how???
