Also Gives more clearance for a tubular turbo mani....Comments welcome I was asked originally what i was going to do about going around the original FB fuel...well im ditching the stock fuel pump, and have mounted a walbro 255LPH external fuel pump on the firewall. Also...I've decided to go the uncoventional route. Instead of buying a 9" or 8" rear, im having a 2wd Toyota truck rear end put in the car. Also, im eliminating springs and struts all togather, and going with a full coilover setup all around (rears will be attached the the cage thats being installed.) -The Stig- 06-04-2006, 01:24 AM Pretty nice... it's gonna be a sweet lil Rex. ;) Since it's turbo, can we call T-Rex? :) nissan_240sx 06-04-2006, 09:33 AM Looking good AWDSR20 06-04-2006, 12:14 PM sweeet bro, how solid r the mounts? did u use a TIG or a MIG? driftking777 06-04-2006, 01:34 PM sweeet bro, how solid r the mounts? did u use a TIG or a MIG? used TIG, the mounts are VERY solid, cannot move the motor at all, however it has poly bushings to dampen vibrations :grinyes: no rattling teeth for me AWDSR20 06-04-2006, 02:08 PM your doing all this in your garage, man i'm proud of u! XeVeNskyLiNE 06-04-2006, 02:41 PM Very nice Frankenstein project you got going on, alot of room in the engine bay too. Keep up the good work, this could turn out to be one of those unique projects that have all the forums talking. driftking777 06-04-2006, 03:26 PM your doing all this in your garage, man i'm proud of u! unfortunatly im NOT doing this at my house, im doing this at a custom fab/rock crawler shop down the street, im really good friends with the owners :D If you notice in the last picture, You can see there $60k rock crawlers in the background. Chuki_breath 06-04-2006, 09:56 PM thats awesome. You reminded me of how ugly old stock ka exhaust mani's are with no heatshield lol. Those things get you real dirty too when taking them off. Hands turn red like you've been digging in clay all day. AWDSR20 06-05-2006, 08:48 PM man, did u consider SPONSESHIP??? i'm serious... Tims_240 06-05-2006, 10:22 PM nice engine hoist! very cool project indeed, also very first one that i have seen do this, good job, and keep at it! -tim MechManZero 06-05-2006, 11:18 PM Yeah lol. Too bad rotory engines suck. Putting an engine in that doesn't utilize triangles spinning in an oval is always a good thing lol -The Stig- 06-06-2006, 02:38 AM Yeah lol. Too bad rotory engines suck. Putting an engine in that doesn't utilize triangles spinning in an oval is always a good thing lol hey.. they're semi-rounded triangles... get it right!:p driftking777 06-06-2006, 04:10 PM man, did u consider SPONSESHIP??? i'm serious... I've thought about it, but #1 im not sure who i would want to sponsor me...also I dont really like rocking stickers...the only way i would rock a sticker is if there REALLY helping me...which some sponsors only give you like 10% off parts...and that to me isnt worth it. HoosierDrifter 06-06-2006, 04:46 PM BTW...for anyone who cares, the motor was offset 1 1/2 inches to the passenger side since the fuel tank sits on the driver side, and so do i...so it was to offset the weight. Also Gives more clearance for a tubular turbo mani....Comments welcome good thinking man... if anyone has looked at the bottom of an s13.. they would notice that the driveline is off centered toward the left side. now the japs probably did that to offset the weight of the driver on the right side. now being that we drive on the left side... our s13s are very left side heavy... thats if only the driver is in the car AWDSR20 06-07-2006, 09:06 PM I've thought about it, but #1 im not sure who i would want to sponsor me...also I dont really like rocking stickers...the only way i would rock a sticker is if there REALLY helping me...which some sponsors only give you like 10% off parts...and that to me isnt worth it. write up a report, include pix. Try company like HKS, Apex..ect AND magazines like Drag SS etc. dude , you don't know how will they react till they see the car. send the e-mails and hope for the best, i'm sure that Drag magazines will be interested in covering ur project! Dyno247365 06-07-2006, 11:05 PM How much does the FC weigh compared to our cars? Chuki_breath 06-09-2006, 12:14 PM How much does the FC weigh compared to our cars? thats not a FC. Atleast i dont think those were called FC's. FC's came after those iirc. Not up to spec on my mazda's. This one is an old bitch, my uncle used to have one back in the day. They are way lighter i believe. XeVeNskyLiNE 06-09-2006, 02:55 PM Yup, thats an FB. I'll take a look somewhere to how much they weigh. But yea, I'm sure this project would get alot of interest, especially KA-T'd. edit: Supposedly they weigh around 2300-2400lbs. And you are putting a heavier engine in. But still, its pretty damn light. Pavlo 06-09-2006, 06:04 PM DAMN, You are the man! Thats awesome, I wish I had the tools and the money to go KA-t in my bimmmer... driftking777 06-10-2006, 02:53 PM sorry i havent been able to get back to some of your questions...ive been in vegas for the past few days. anywho...yes it is an FB...the car (which i havent weighed before or after the swap yet) has a dry weight of supposedly 2200lbs (add roughly 100lbs for fluids) so 2300lbs wet. but thats with full interior, heater core ect...the heater core and A/C alone had to have been around 50-75lbs, i also cut out the stock engine crossmember (20lbs) completely stripped the interior (100lbs+)...with this car completely done, i dont want to be ANY heavier than 2200lbs....which would be abour 500-700lbs lighter than our cars... and since im looking to push around 400-450whp...this thing should be a frickin rocket...im looking for mid 10's to high 9's (depending how i catch traction) aka...meaning i'll need wheelie bars for the track. any yes...i will try and get some sponsors to ease the pain of the next 9k im going to be spending to get this thing to top notch... thanks everyone for your interest ;) AWDSR20 06-11-2006, 02:08 AM how was vegas? did u win?! driftking777 06-12-2006, 12:04 AM nope...no winning :( just loosing... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
