ive eaten up pleanty of rice and 6 banger mustangs and camaros in my area but this race is worth mentioning

ok so i decide to go for a little late night drive since theres nothing to do at home and im bored as hell. I drive a good ways away from my house looking for something to do but alas nothing to do can be found. After about 2 hours of driving aimlessly i decide to head back home so I make a u turn and start back down the 3 lane straight i was on that extends about 3 miles and as soon as i get into the center lane i see headlights on my 6 aproaching very fast and i think too my self "ohh finally some fun" so i accelerate a little more up to about 50 and as soon as the car passes me i tag behing him hitting 65 and moving to the far left lane i come up on the rear of the car and see that its a mustang gt so I start accelerating to 80. Im now next to the mustang and i start pacing for about 10 seconds thinking to myself "im about to get my ass handed to me" (based off another encounter i have with 2002 gt) he realizes im there and we both go WOT just about at the same time he pulls about half a car on me before i start creeping up and pull 2 cars on him at about 100mph and i shut it down. I slow down to about 60 and he paces me this time i start rolling my window down to tell him we go on three honks and just as im about to start talking he goes WOT again and pulls a car on me so i floor it and im on his door at about 85 and keep creeping putting a car and a half on him again. we finally come to a red light with a long freshly paved straight ahead and i tell him on green we go and he goes naw after the intersection we go from a 40mph roll and i told him alright ill count it down and we go on 3 honks, its about midnight no traffic just me, him and the straight ahead. so light turns green we cross the intersection and get up to 40 and i honk it down we both floor it and once again he pulls a car on me but I start pulling on him very quickly at about 70 were bumper to bumper and i keep pulling on him till 125 were i had about four cars on him so i shut it down and he catches me at the next light and we get to talking...

all in spanish so ill translate

me: good run man
him: i wouldnt say that lol i thought i had you at first
me: lol
him: thats a nice little car you have there, what is it?
me: 3000gt (big grin), i was sure your were gonna leave me standing what happened?
him: i thought so too. shit happens i guess, you want a beer?
me:naw not really
him: *shows me a Corona* (favorite beer)
me: well if you insist
him: follow me

so we pull up to a wendys parking lot and he hands me a beer and we start shooting the shit. I do a quick walk around his car to make sure indeed it was a gt before i posted this lol and not just a badged and kitted LX. he pops the hood and sure enough 5.0 V8 with 161k miles on the clock. so we talk a little longer and then went our seperate ways. I was really surprised with my car and how it performed cause i was sure i was gonna see that GT's tail lights. So im not sure if his car was acting up or what but all in all a good end to a boring night.

nice kill. You have a vr4 right? If so, an '02 GT shouldn't be too hard to put away.

if you can beat v6 mustangs esp the last gens or the 3.8 liter v6 F bodies, i don't see why you would lose to a stock ( i assume ) 5.0 i mean the v6 stangs and camaros makes 200hp while the fox body GT's made 220hp. also the GT is slower then the LX's because of all the extra weight from the wing and body kit that comes with it. also all the later fox body stangs ( with 2 headlights not 4 square headlights ) are v8 so there are almost no poser fox bodies.

Thanks, and no Igovert no VR4...yet anyways im looking into getting one hopefully by the end of this year of middle of next but i want a second gen so im not rushing into anything and I know a VR4 would put that 02 away but in my SL he made it seem like I took off in reverse, maybe i should have caught a hint seeing as he had his 1/4 mile time and MPH on his windshield, maybe bracket racer I guess.

TatII yeah Ive ran a few of the newer 6 banger stangs and maros and they havent posed a threat as of yet but the Camaros seem to hang with me a little longer and Im not very knowledgeable on mustangs so i wasnt sure of the HP that thing was putting out which was pretty much stock aside from intake and full exhaust that made it sound mean as hell, thats why i was almost sure he was going to pull on me.

Yeah I'm with Tat. The 3/s is not a common car yet the 3/s members are one of the most frequent visitors all the sudden. Kind of weird.

Good kill. Until I came on this board I never really noticed how many people owned the N/A version of the 3000 GT. Now when I go to the illegal races I see them quite often. I would guess that they are more reliable then the Twin Turbo version, but without as much aftermarket support.

the 4 cyl in most cases was actually pretty reliable. and has quite a lot of potential. ever heard of the SVO mustang? anyway, the 5.0 did make 225 at the crank, which is one of the reasons that they take so well to mods. what makes it so fun is that it still have loads of torque and since the car itself is lighter than recent mustangs it still is pretty quick with simple upgrades, like a nice set of 3.55s in the back.

Yeah they are so easy to make fast it should be illegal...That's what i love about e'm hehe. Sure they don't handle real well but if all your intrested in is straight line stuff (like me) then foxbodies are very good car to go with. My next favorite would be the 99-04 stangs.
