How to open truck when key is "ON"

I have a quick question.

Since my '99 LS has no trunk release in the car, the only way to open the trunk is by remote. This is fine, but the trunk release does not operate when the key is in the "ON" position.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Thanks,

Dave

Maybe they dont want you to have the trunk open when the car is supposed to be moving? I dunno, only logical thing I can think of.

Yup, I know I hate that. Jump in the car, start it, then your friend wants something out of the trunk:banghead:

I also have a '99 Malibu, and when the key is "ON" I can pop the trunk with either the electronic trunk release near your left knee, OR the remote.

It makes no sense.

I keep a spare key in my wallet ;) Also helpful for when I lock my keys in!
