I'd probably take a '99 VR-4 over a Supra, I love the AWD and they're less expensive.

I'd rather have the Supra, but they're so horrendously overpriced that I'd go with a VR-4. I like AWD anyways.

The resale values on Supras are really high, but the repair costs on a 3000gt are pretty high too. Both cars are too heavy for their own good. My vote goes to the Supra.

I don't know for sure but I imagine the repair costs would probably be pretty high for the Supra too. I wouldn't get either unless I could afford to have them worked on because it's all one big rats nest under the hood of those things.

They're both overpriced and overweight. I like the RWD of a Supra and I think it's an overall better looking car. I also love the feel and sound of a high powered straight 6.

yea thanks to the fast and the furious the price of a good condition supra turbo is about the same as a new car. the supra is heavy but no heavier than a z28, trans am, or mustang and i dont see anyone complaining about their weight. plus it is not as heavy as a 3000gt. the only advantage the gt has is awd, but for drag the supras rwd is better. the supra also has much more power potential than the 3kgt. both cars are nice looking in their own respects, i couldnt pick one over the other if i was basing on looks. the best thing the supra has over the 3kgt though is the fact that it wont fall apart every couple thousand miles which the gt is notorious for. so overall ill have to pick the supra, if you can afford one that is.

supras are cake to work on...but i guess you guys could argue that this is coming from someone who does all their own work on their Z32. eh...the inline 6 and rather large engine bay of the supra is pretty simple once you start modifying.

id take the supra if money wasn't an issue but with money always being an issue, i would take the VR4 and build it into a monster with the money i would save.

the supra's drivetrain is just too dominant and easy to modify to not say i wouldnt take it. :D BUT then again, the supra does look like poo...

I don't know how you guys can do that lol...when I had my DSM I would get so pissed trying to work on that thing because everything was in the way or my hand was waaay to huge to fit somewhere.

Patience is a virtue my friend. :lol: basically with the Z32, it really isnt that hard to work on once you know what everything is, where it leads to, and what it is there for. it gets frustrating because you have to spend a couple hours removing parts just to get to the part that you need to change or where your trying to get to. its worth it for me...

what sucks worse is trying to find someone else you can trust to work on the Z32.

Yeah that whole patience thing wasn't something I had a lot of when I had my DSM, I wanted to get it goin' and go for a drive. Things are changin' though, maybe I'll look into a Z for my next ride :iceslolan

they are money pits whether they are running good or not. if not, then your stuck getting it to tip top running condition....but if it is running good then your scraping pennies for the next big performance part. they are very addictive to everyone that owns them. i dont know what it is...

good luck. i paid $5500 for my N/A and $12k later im still not driving. its kind of depressing but...eh...its a hobby, just a really pricey one. :D

I'd choose a Toyota Supra over a 3000GT. They are faster, rarer, and have higher value as a collector's peice (unless it is compared to a VR-4 Spyder).

Supra=much $$
VR4= less $$
Thus i would go w/ the 3K GT. Plus it looks SWEET! But then again so does the supra........

I'd go with the Supra any time. I see more GT's around here than Supras, I can get more out of the Supra, and the Supra is just a better looking car. That and the fact that I'd trust Toyota over Mitsubishi when it comes to building a nice reliable car.

I would buy the vr4 but i would rather have the supra. for a racecar i think the supra is better in just about every way with its rwd and tons of hp potential.

The only good things about the vr4 compaired to the supra is the awd for bad weather, the cheapness, and the looks.

Do you see alot of Supras around? :screwy:

Everyone says the Supra is so expensive because of F&F. I have no idea where that originated from but its B.S...A movie has nothing to do with the price of the car, people just realize the power and potential that a supra has and that drove the price up, not a f***ing movie. If that were the case, why didn't the price of RX-7s jump up aswell? The demand may have gotten a little higher for them once more people realized what it was and perhaps that brought the price up marginally but I refuse to believe that if F&F never came out that you could find a Supra for much cheaper.

but the movie turned alot of peoples attention to the supra. the rx-7 wasnt a major role and when everyone saw the supra hang with that 9 sec. charger or whatever it was they were like wow those things are pretty fast. its not the sole reason but it helped alot. movies have a huge impact on the publics thinking. and btw rx-7s are pretty expensive as well.

I just have a hard time with the whole movie thing. I think instead if it costing $26000, the movie made it cost 27,000. I just think that people give that movie too much credit for it. And RX-7s are expensive but they were like a $30,000+ car when it came out and its rare so it will hold its value well.

assuming we're talking about the vr4 gt's i'd take one of them over a supra,, but yes, both are very overpriced imo. stock for stock they're very similar in performance, so when it comes down to price and styling i think the vr4 wins hands down.

the supra was a 30k+ car as well and is equally rare. just driving around town ive seen only a couple less rx7s than supras.

Rx7's were around 34K - 45K when they came out. 45k being the rediculious 95 R2. My sticker was 35,100.00 on mine.

Supra's were around 45k+ when they came out rumours were some went for around 70K!

The Supra looks like a turd, the VR4 is too heavy.

There was an RX-7 in the Barrett Jackson Collector-Car Auction that sold for $60,000! (if I'm not mistaken there was 3 or 5 RX-7's that hit the auction block that year). :naughty:

We were discussing this on 7club the other day how our Fd's value shot up 5 friggin G's in suggested retails an 3k an private. The one that sold for 60 (It was 53 I think) was a Bansai 3 rotor. It was nice! Still jackson unloaded a bone stock FD with 19k miles (I think) for 29,500! That gives us FD owners hope.

Chime in when you get a chance I'm FD3s4e - http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=525021

Edit: The 3 rotor sold for 52,380 ~ http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=184341

An RX-7 with 19K original miles!!!! Wow, that's almost fresh outta the showroom. $29,500 for an original, numbers-matching 3rd-gen. with that little mileage is a fair price. Do you have any other info. on the car? What color was it? What year+model (R1, R2, Spirit-R,etc.)?

I wonder what the pearly-white p.e.p. car (the only one in existense) would sell for if it is ever found again.

The R2 would have sold for more than $29,500 if it were silverstone (there were 83 made in '94, and only 16 made in '95).
