No Fourth Gear?

Im not sure about with power mode off, but with it on I have no fourth gear. It just keeps revving higher and higher when I accelerate in third. Ive had it up to 4.2k rpms @ about 70mph and it still doesnt shift. Can anyone point me in a direction towards the cause?

Its a 1985 300zx, non-turbo. Pretty fresh tranny fluid (about 500 miles).

you sure that "power" mode and not overdrive?

the Z31 automatic is a 3 speed with overdrive im pretty sure. so it sounds like your trans is working fine. just keep OD on, it has nothing to do with power.

That sounds like that might be the case... he's just turning Over drive off...

I've never ridden/driven a Z31, So I can't offer much help on the subject.

For those of you who have driven an auto z31, the button at the top-left of the shifter ( that says power on it ) is turned on and I have no fourth gear...

Heres a ( not so great ) picture of the button:

( Notice its on :p )

uhhh no synchros???? I have no freaking clue, maybe the button's just disconected or malfunctioned or something. Try turning the button off and seeing what happens.

Well, I do turn if off once in a while, and I can feel a difference in when it shifts.

that's probably the OD dude... you'll probably save some gas if you turn it off too...

It probably has a different setting mode in the tranny itself, where it'll shift a bit faster and harder in 'power' mode. And it probably disengages the overdrive for added passing power.

Turn power mode off, if you want to cruise.

Ah, that makes sense, but stinks... Haha

Thanks guys...
