Hi, i'm fairly new to cars and this sight, and i'm going to be getting my license in the next year or so, and wanting to buy a '91-'93 240sx hatch. planning on getting coilovers, brakes, tires, all that good stuff, now for my question. I want to put the s15 motor in the car with a disco potato turbo and i'm not sure if the motor will fit,and if it does, what else will I need to get it running, or other suggested parts to help it run better, any help would be great, thanks.

firsttttt of all you DONT need an s15 engine in your first car, im on my first car at the moment and 140sh hp is plenty to kill myself/learn on. secondly sr20dets (s15 engines) are illegal, so in my opinion, the best idea is to turbo the stock 240sx engine. to answer your question, yes you can put the engine in your car, but thats pretty common knowledge you could have searched for. have a look for a swap guide for details on what stuff you will need. you really should learn as much as you can about how turbochargers how and engines work, before you try and do this stuff

stay with the turboed ka24de, its cheaper for you youngsters :) lol im only 15 buttttt im really insighted into the nissan world. so i kno all basics and a large amount of advance stuff. so stay with the ka, put on a turbo. but if u wanna drift first, just go for lsd, tires and suspension then go for the turbo last. it works well, im on my second 240sx. its a 89 s13 coupe with a ca18det in it. its whats getin me to D1 in the next few years. so GO FOR IT!! lol word. have fun.

i'm not planning on doing it right away, after a year or two. I tried three different search engines but couldn't find any info. I have a pretty good understanding how motors and turbos work, have done lots of research on that. also, is the sr20de motor legal?

uh so your saying that not thrashing the shit out of your tires, clutch, ect for something that was once semi cool but is now on the ricers agenda makes you a loser? im setting mine up for track.....theres no point in swapping in an sr20de, the ka will do just fine if you dont want a turbo

I agree with Metalheadzaid, auotcross use and street use.

also, to turbo the stock motor, would I have to take some compresion out of the motor, or will it work just stock.

chill out man. 240s arent limited to people who know as much as you, and my lack of knowledge has nothing to do with rice...

your 15 and on the wealthy side.....no, your parents are.

and that r33 needs a little makover. Granted the rims make it look better than it really does. I like the stock r33 gtr thats the same color around here better.

oh and NO you dont absolutely have to lower compression to turbo a stock ka......its wiser to, for better room for error while tuning. Plus when you buy pistons your buying a stronger piston than factory, so why not lower compression at the same time. Which is why you should do it if your shooting for huge power.......

if your shooting for 250-300 stock pistons should hold up for quite sometime.

www.ka-t.org read up.

Your parents have money...that just makes you spoiled, and the hard working/saving people dont want to hear about your spoiledness. So your parents have had 2 240's, since your not even old enough to have a title in your name lol

aaaahhhh but i do know you

1. your 15
2. your parents are rich
3. you know less than me about cars
4. you dont care enough about cars to learn enough to do the work yourself
5. your a noob with your huge sig.
6. you think your getting into D1 but are going to be sadly disappointed when you back your 240 into a lightpole when you try to drift for the first time
7. you dont know how to spell

have a nice day

ahahahhaa. after every reply i read on this post i thought i could not agree more. until i read the next. funny shit. i agree with hit n run player, you are a spoiled ricer. unlike us hardworking guys, all you have to do is ask your mommy and/or daddy. i have to spend 12 hours a day in the sun working my ass off while you sit at home and play need for speed and tell mommy and daddy you saw a skyline in the game and you want it. or an S15 SR20, whatever it is you said. who cares. i cant stand these kids. thanks for the great laugh guys.

ps im doin an sr20 swap but for what you are looking to do with your car, id stick with the KA, turbo later if at all. research is key. oh, and why dont you get your lisensce first. :shakehead :banghead:

Trust me, there are plenty of civics that will spank 240s left and right on the track (road). Its not the car that makes it rice, its the driver. There are a fair amount of 240 ricers, know it alls, guys who think they know it all....and impatient assholes. Why is there so much flaming and bashing on the boards now? If you see a noob post, no one is forcing you to read it. IMO, those who jump on a noob look even more dumb and immature. Strong, I am sorry that you have to deal with these kind of people. I really am. When I was modding my 240 back in the mid 90s, the 240sx community was like a family. Everyone was respectful of eachother and everyone helped out where needed. One thing I can suggest to you is to do EVEN more research than you think you have. You have a year or two to go before making this purchase. Spend some time reading up on the 240, its strengths, weaknesses, etc. Dont mind the assholes flaming you for your noob questions. No one is making them read your post. keep on asking, but for the sake of those who really are on here to help, try the search option.

All of you need to really consider just shutting up. For those of you who contributed something to this thread, thank you, it is greatly appreciated .

slidewayz, I understand you hate n00bs and especially the ones that think they are "the shit," but it makes my job a lot easier when I don't have to tell you to lay off of them because you already know better. I would greatly appreciate you letting the n00bs be just as they are, stupid as they may be.

This goes for all of you as well: Stupid as some of them may be, the n00bs are here to either learn the real side of dealing with cars or stay a short while and leave because they're not getting their "OMG MAD TYTE JDM!" fix because you guys know better than that, you follow?

Besides, if there is a n00b causing problems, I or Matt (The Stig) will take care of it.

Now, I'm going to try and be in here a lot more often, as it appears that some of you can't keep away from petting your ego with posts dismissing n00bs with harassing comments while completely ignoring the fact that your main job as a member here is to provide them with the right information.

IF I see any n00b bashing or blatantly harassing posts from here on out, I will delete the post and ban the offender for one day. If any said offender reaches 3 one-day bans, the next ban will be 2 weeks. Following that, it will be permanent.

I hate to be an asshole (well, sometimes) but for those of you who have been here for a while, this place was nothing but a flame fest for anyone who wanted to click the "post" button. I was confident that after things started shaping up that issues would be minimal, but now that we seem to be getting more and more new members, it seems that I'll need to keep a closer eye out for flaming.

If any of you have any questions/comments, please direct them to my message box.
