I just bought a 93 CC wagon with the 305 in it, and havent owned a Chevy in the past 20 years. I have been a "ford" man for the last 15 or so years, my latest car being a 93 Mustang Cobra. My questions are as follows:

1.What transmission came from the factory in this car?(so i can get a shift kit)

2. I have been looking for parts (cold air intake, etc.) and there are only listings for 94' and newer and for the 5.7. Since the 5.0 and 5.7 are the same(except for internals) would these parts work?

3. What is the difference between the 93' and 94' models? (induction?)

4. What all is involved in converting the car to dual exhaust?

Im not trying to build a monster or anything, just trying to get the car to breathe/sound a little better. Sorry if these topics have already been beat to death.

Thanks,
Terry

#1. TH700R4/4L60 (different names, same trans).
#2. The '94-'96 uses the reverse-cooled Gen II Small Block, whose parts are incompatible with your Gen I SB.
#3. The '89-'93 use TBI and the '94-'96 uses Sequential Port Injection.
#4. Simply use a dual cat setup from the above '94-'96 LT1 setup - the L99 (4.3) uses single exhaust. You will also need the trans crossmember from an LT1 Caprice.

Thanks for the response silicon212.
Any idea where i could get, or who makes a cold air intake(like the K&N FIPK) for the 93?
Also, any other reccomendations performance-wise that i could do to the car. As previously stated im not trying to build a race car but would like a little more bolt-on performance.
Did the 305 come from factory with forged or hyperutectic pistons?
Thanks again,
Terry

I'd make your own out of the Caddy piece and some PVC. Cheap and they work.

Also on the dual exhaust, you will need a chip burned to compensate. Without it you will set a code 32(EGR) over and over.

Neither. It has cast pistons.

A good starting point would be to check the head castings to make sure you don't have teh standard, old design TBI swirl port heads. Remove a rocker cover and find the 8-digit casting number between a pair of rockers. If you're lucky, you'll have 14101081 heads. If not, you may have swirl heads. They're not a total waste, since they make good mud anchors, or an excellent small truck wheel chock as long as you pull the rocker studs.

The next thing to do would be to address the exhaust and induction system. Cold air is nice at times, but it may not make much of a difference with the stock TBI220 strapped to your intake.

The program also has a very conservative spark advance map, and there are several other places to improve the stock programming for better performance and economy.

Once the car is converted to dual exhaust, where does the O2 sensor go?

i'd think youd need two. one for each side, that is if ur doin a true dual exhaust.
