I own a '94 gmc 1500 SLE with the spare tire mounted under the bed of the truck. I was wondering if it is possible to switch from a standard single exhaust to dual straight pipes. I would like to start with full headers, eliminate the cat converter (there is no IM where I live), straight out to glass packs. Can I buy an exhaust system without the cat converter? And will there be any negative efffects upon eliminating the cat? If there is anybody that has had this done or can give me suggestions on how and where to stick the pipes out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanxs

Simple. You can either have the pipes come out from the back (pipes will go around spare tire.) or out from the sides. Its louder if you have them both come out the back. I took my cat. off and i think my truck runs better without.

You have to keep in mind that it is still against federal law to remove anything from the emission control system, even if you live in a place that does not have emissions tests. You will probably have to have to take it to an exhaust shop to have it done.
