I heard somewhere that there was a law suit against Ford relating to the intake manifold leaking. Something about poor design. Is it true that the warranty is extended? Anyone have information on this? I am looking at buying a P74 Crown Vic that has the leak. Would the warranty extend to me?

If you can post the 17 digit VIN, I can look it up for you. If you don't want to post it on the board, PM me and I will get back to you.

Thanks way2old. I just sent the #. For anyone that is interested I found a site that deals with the law suit.

It is NOT a "design flaw", but rather a manufacturing flaw that causes them to split open. Ford did not make this part, but they WILL COVER them for 7 years/unlimited miles.
At first, the covered only the "P71", "P72" and "Limo Prep" cars, but the last I heard they were covering all cars.

There's some good info on and links to the settlement here...

There is also some good, detailed DIY instructions if you choose to do the repair yourself.

Thanks for the link to the repair site. I did not win the bid on the car that had the leak. However I do have a second car that may end up with one in the future. It still has the original intake on it.
